A Winter Colourland

Welcome to A Winter Colourland!

This is an invitation to my upcoming art exhibition at The Reach Gallery between November 25, 2016 and January 15, 2017. In this new body of work, I explore the winter myths, legends and stories from many cultures and eras through the contemporary lens of the adult colouring book. I have also included tales written by Hans Christian Andersen. I am curious about the rising popularity of the adult colouring book and the need that it is fulfilling in society.

A Winter Colourland consists of a 54-foot long (9 feet high) colouring book graphic that extends the full length of The Reach’s Grotto Gallery.

There will be colouring books for sale as a souvenir of the exhibition’s graphics on display.

I hope that the drawings in the exhibition and the ones in this book can return audiences to a place of playful contemplation, with all the wonder and curiosity that we experience as children.
