As new information is revealed and learned, this Canada Day is a day for contemplation rather than celebration for many of us. As I struggle with my past understanding and knowledge of Canada, I am now questioning my connection to it. So, I am returning to my daily drawing practice to better understand my feelings.
This is my Canada Day drawing of Turtle Island, the name many Indigenous people used for this land. I only recently learned of this name while listening to CBC, and wanted to incorporate it into this drawing with the young eagle.
